Закон, согласно которому по мере потребления все большего количества продукта за определенный период времени добавочная (предельная) полезность или удовлетворение (см. Marginal utility), извлекаемое из каждой дополнительной единицы данного продук та, уменьшается, т.к. потребность в нем постепенно насыщается. Используя принцип убывающей предельной полезности, можно объяснить, почему кривая спроса на большинство продуктов имеет нисходящий наклон: если потребитель извлекает меньше удовлетворения из каждой последующей единицы продукта, тогда он будет готов купить его только по более низкой цене.
